Rooted in Nature - Meiyume’s New Sustainable and Biodegradable Collection

Meiyume’s UK team innovates a range of beauty packaging and formulations inspired by nature 

Meiyume’s Innovation & Development Capabilities 

December 2022 – We are pleased to introduce the new Rooted in Nature collection, the brainchild of our UK team of trailblazers that is committed to creating new innovations in beauty formulations and packaging. This range is composed of 10 brand-new formulations across skin, hair, and colour cosmetics, in sustainable packaging. 

With full turnkey expertise at our Trowbridge, UK, manufacturing facility, the Rooted in Nature collection is the result of actionable trends and insights that were adopted by our in-house experts. The insights gathered inspired our team to create a range that combines both the consumers’ current sentiment with nature’s beauty – leading to the development of a range with the benefits of both natural and bioengineered efficacious ingredients presented in sustainable and biodegradable packaging solutions. 

Our Innovation and Development (I&D) team has formulated the Rooted in Nature products based on 95% natural low-water formulations for those who yearn for nature-inspired products with the reassurance of science and efficacy. This innovative range includes highly natural products that utilise our UK’s Hot Pour capabilities, with solids, pastes, and balms featured throughout the line-up. 

To achieve the sustainable aesthetics of this range, our team utilised a mixture of sustainable packaging materials. Our team selected Fasson® rCrush Grape FSC® as one of the main packaging materials due to its unique uncoated, matt, and smooth wood-free printing. This is made from 15% grape waste from wine making, 40% post-consumer recycled fibers, and 45% virgin wood pulp with wet strength treatment. Next, our team entered into a partnership with Sulapac, a pioneer in the development and manufacturing of sustainable microplastic-free materials, and Quadpack, an international provider of packaging solutions to the beauty industry. This has allowed us to ensure rapid prototyping with smart solutions for beauty brands.  

Another solution included in our packaging is GREENWEIMO’s biodegradable packaging. The material used is bagasse which is the natural wasted by-product of sugarcane after the juice is extracted from the cane. This is a great alternative to plastic and Styrofoam packaging as it consumes less energy compared to pulping wood for paper products. Lastly, PICEATM wood tubes are a part of this range, as this material is from renewable resources, with 10% spruce wood and 85% sugar-based proportions. PICEATM wood tube has a carbon footprint that is 40% better than a conventional PE tube, with the benefit of barrier properties, decoration, food suitability, and recyclability. 

Meiyume’s Rooted in Nature Range

The Rooted in Nature range includes ten products: 

  1. BI-PHASE CLEANSING OIL

A transformative milky emulsion that envelops the skin in a comforting blanket with soothing Chaga Mushroom and fermented quinoa, that works to remove makeup and impurities without stripping the skin of its essential moisture.

2. VITAMIN SEA RECOVERY MASK 

This mask is formulated with a potent blend of all-natural ingredients to soothe, calm, and visibly revitalise and perfect the complexion. This intensely soothing and protecting mask works to moisturise the skin, increase cell turnover, and target the common signs of ageing for a renewed, firmer, and visibly radiant complexion.​ 

 

3. HYBRID MOISTURISER

A gel-cream hybrid that will leave the skin feeling fresh without a trace of greasiness and stickiness. It also ensures hydration that leaves the skin healthy and radiant.​ 

 

4. SHAMPOO BAR

A natural balm with a silky liquid formula, this ultra-foaming shampoo bar is designed to help rebalance, soothe the scalp, and strengthen the hair to restore balance for a cleansed scalp with soft and smooth hair. 

 

5. CONDITIONER BAR

A waterless care conditioning bar that helps to soothe the scalp and leaves the hair feeling stronger, softer, and more resilient. This easy-to-use conditioner melts into the damp hair leaving it feeling smooth and hydrated, with an abundance of natural conditioning oils.​ 

 

6. LOW WATER SHAMPOO PASTE

A predominantly plant-based paste-textured concentrate activated by water in the shower. The formula gives a deep cleanse and luxurious lather, leaving the hair feeling light, soft, and healthy. This paste is more than twice concentrated and encased in 100ml travel-friendly packaging.  

 

7. LOW WATER CONDITIONER PASTE

Similar to the shampoo, this conditioner paste is activated by water. The lightweight, silicone-free formula gently enriches hair without weighing it down, leaving the hair soft and healthy.  

 

8. LIP CUSHION BALM

This lip balm is developed to help dry, cracked lips. This super-nourishing formulation is an overnight lip-plumping balm that melts into a transparent, silky veil. Enriched with beautiful oils that envelope dry, dehydrated lips, users can find comfort in the immediate effects of firmer, smoother, and more defined lips. ​ 

 

9. SKIN LUMINISER BALM

This beauty product is a hybrid between skincare and makeup. With high naturality and organic radiance solution, it melts effortlessly into the cheekbones, cupids bow, or wherever needs an extra glow! A blend of beautiful oils ensures the skin is moisturized, replenished, and enviably soft.​ 

 

10. VIVID HYBRID PRIMER 

A primer that infuses the skin with barrier-strengthening ingredients and protection from digital stress whilst minimizing shine, open pores, and excess sebum for a lightly blurring effect. The formula hydrates and smoothes whilst boosting skin radiance and restoring firmness. This improves the appearance of wrinkles whilst combatting photo and digital ageing. The natural matte finish prolongs the longevity of one’s foundation without fading or creasing throughout the day.​
