Introducing the ‘MONOTWIST Pebble’ by Meiyume and Eastman: A New Standard for Solids in One Material

Beauty packaging is being asked to do more with less: fewer materials, simpler recycling, and a pack that still feels considered and premium in the hand.
With MONOTWIST Pebble, we set out to bring those priorities together. Developed in collaboration with Eastman, our patent-pending, recycled and recyclable compact is made entirely from PET, right down to the spring, and combines a distinctive twist-to-open mechanism with a rounded, faceted design made for everyday use.
It follows our earlier collaborations on the Clear Crystal Case and Crystal Halo Cap, continuing our work together to explore what PET can do in beauty packaging.
Mono by Nature, Engineered by Design
MONOTWIST Pebble takes its name from its pebble-like silhouette and signature opening gesture. A simple twist offers an intuitive alternative to the conventional hinged compact. Designed for solid formulas, it also supports direct hot-pour filling, removing the need for a separate inner pan.
The key engineering challenge was ensuring the spring is PET.
Conventional compacts often pair a plastic body with a metal spring, adding another material to the assembly. Working closely with Eastman’s materials specialists, we developed a high-performance PET spring engineered to withstand repeated use. This keeps the body, spring and cord within a single material family.
Solving that small component allowed us to carry the mono-material design through the whole pack, including the mechanism that makes it work.
The material innovation goes further. MONOTWIST Pebble uses Eastman Cristal™ One Renew PET, available with up to 100% certified recycled content*, made possible through Eastman’s molecular recycling technology that transforms difficult-to-recycle plastic waste into virgin-quality materials. The PET is also certified by RecyClass as compatible with existing PET recycling streams.
Together, these innovations bring material circularity and distinctive design into a single packaging solution.

Twist, Carry and Go
A small opening within the spring allows a cord or strap to be attached, opening up wearable and portable styling, from a simple wrist cord through to bangle-style accessories.
It taps into one of the clearest packaging trends shaping the beauty industry in 2026: wearable, portable, on-the-go formats, from bag charms to mini compacts, are going mainstream as beauty becomes an ever more lifestyle led category. Brands from The Ordinary to Marc Jacobs are already exploring exactly this territory, spanning mass to premium with keychain serums, lipstick case charms and solid fragrance charms. For brands developing solid formulas, whether lip care, solid perfume or balm based skincare, MONOTWIST Pebble offers a ready-made, on trend format that is engineered rather than simply assembled.
Available in translucent and soft tonal colourways, its jewel-like finish gives brands a distinctive starting point, with room to create their own expression through colour and customisation.
