Hong Kong, 15 April 2021 – Meiyume is excited to announce that we are now a member of SPICE

1. What is SPICE?
Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics (SPICE) was launched by L’Oréal and Quantis in May 2018. It brings together 29 global cosmetics brands and organizations to tackle the growing environmental footprint of the beauty industry. Committed to working towards a thriving future for beauty, SPICE members rise to meet consumer and regulatory expectations, starting with cosmetics packaging. SPICE members work together to co-create industry-recognized methodologies and tools to measure, track progress and communicate on the environmental performance of beauty packaging.

2. Why has Meiyume joined SPICE?
As an organization that strives to empower beauty for the future, Meiyume is committed to driving the circular economy and setting up practices that will have real world impact on the environment. We recognize that we can achieve this goal faster if we work together with industry partners.

We have identified the value of joining SPICE as part of Meiyume’s Sustainability Strategy since 2019 and has been recognized as an official member in December 2020.

3. How will SPICE benefit our customers and consumers?
The tracking of product environmental footprint is an integral part of the internal process for SPICE members. Meiyume has integrated the use of the SPICE tool across our global packaging innovations and operations team to enable us to easily assess the environmental performance of cosmetics packaging based on a science-based methodology. This will allow customers to understand the impact of their products better following the standardized SPICE methodology.
