CBE 2026: Beauty Trends Driving the Industry Forward

A supply chain perspective on tech, emotion, and segmentation

May 2026 –

CBE 2026 returned under the theme “30 Years, New Wave”.

Across three days, more than 3,200 exhibitors gathered over 230,000 square metres to showcase the latest innovations shaping the beauty industry.

Beyond the scale and excitement, several key themes consistently emerged across the exhibition floor: Elevated technology, sensory elevation, and scenario precision.

More than passing trends, these shifts reflect how consumer expectations are evolving — influencing the way brands innovate, connect with audiences, and bring products to market. For Chinese beauty brands expanding into Southeast Asia, the ability to respond to these changes with agility and relevance may become an important driver for future growth.

Trend 1: Elevated Technology – Biotechnology Redefines Efficacy

The first clear signal from CBE: ingredient-conscious shoppers have turned into formula-conscious shoppers.

It’s no longer just about “what’s inside” — but also “how strong it performs”. Pharma-grade standards, patents, clinical proof, and science-driven are continuing to reshape how consumers define trust and efficacy. From multi-layer nano-encapsulation to PDRN active delivery systems, platform technologies were highly visible throughout the raw materials hall.

Industry influence is moving from “story-based ingredients” to “verified technology”. When brands evaluate suppliers today, the conversation goes beyond the size of a formulation library. Increasingly, they are looking for partners who can support the full development journey — from active ingredient screening and delivery system adaptation to industrial scaling and manufacturing readiness.

As efficacy expectations continue to evolve, these capabilities are becoming increasingly important for the future of beauty innovation.

Trend 2: Sensory Elevation – Emotion-Driven Consumption

Another strong theme at CBE was the growing importance of emotional and sensory-driven beauty experiences.

Beauty is becoming less about outward perception and more about everyday moments of self-expression and enjoyment. Fragrance continues to take centre stage, with body washes and shampoos increasingly incorporating perfume-inspired scent experiences. The home fragrance market is also growing rapidly, as consumers seek products that bring ritual, comfort, and emotional connection into everyday life.

Scent, texture, and packaging are no longer just supporting elements — they are becoming an important part of the overall product experience. Beauty routines are evolving into moments of self-care and personal expression.

This also introduces a new challenge for supply chains: how do you translate emotional experiences into stable, scalable technical execution? Factors such as scent longevity, texture transformation, and packaging tactility were once considered purely aesthetic preferences. Today, they are becoming measurable product specifications that require careful engineering and consistency.

The ability to transform emotional value into executable formulas and manufacturable solutions will continue to shape the next generation of premium beauty experiences.

Trend 3: Scenario Precision – Segmentation Fuels Category Innovation

The third trend is centred around increasingly precise usage occasions.

From baby care to sun care, and from scalp health to home care, different scenarios are driving different solution needs, with consumers increasingly seeking products tailored to specific lifestyles and routines. CBE 2026 highlighted how focused, targeted solutions are continuing to gain momentum alongside broader product positioning.

For supply chains, this segmentation brings new operational considerations: more SKUs, smaller batch sizes, and shorter development timelines. Traditional models built around high-volume production and longer lead times are evolving to support a faster and more diversified market environment.

Flexible production, modular formulation systems, and rapid prototyping are becoming increasingly important capabilities as brands look for partners who can support speed, adaptability, and precision.

Meiyume’s Take: Turning Trends into Scalable Solutions

As an industry disrupter, we care less about spotting trends and more about what it takes to land them.

When a brand needs “elevated technology” – they need a partner who understands formulation engineering and can turn technology into mass production, not just a raw material trader.

When a brand needs “sensory elevation” – they need a maker who can turn scent, texture, and packaging from subjective desires into repeatable production parameters.

When a brand needs “scenario precision” – they need a flexible supply chain that handles small batches, diverse categories, and quick turnarounds.

And when those needs show up in the context of Southeast Asian expansion, the challenge doubles: formulas must stay stable in tropical climates. Packaging must meet local environmental rules. Production must happen locally to catch sales windows.

About Meiyume

As a global beauty solutions partner, Meiyume provides end-to-end support — from design, R&D, and OEM/ODM manufacturing to formulation development, primary and secondary packaging, bags, and accessories.

With a global R&D and engineering network alongside established local production and compliance capabilities across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Thailand, we help brands navigate both innovation and execution with greater agility.

At the same time, our proprietary Beauty Intelligence Platform (BIP) continuously tracks evolving consumer behaviour, ingredient preferences, and product movements across global markets. Powered by a dedicated data team, these insights are translated into purposeful formulations, transparent claims, and future-ready product solutions.

As Chinese brands continue expanding into Southeast Asia, the need is no longer simply for cross-border supply — but for localised, flexible, and deeply integrated supply chain support. Through local production, local compliance expertise, and regional operational capabilities, Meiyume helps brands focus on growth and consumer connection while navigating the complexity behind the scenes.

At Meiyume, we empower brands to build the future of beauty — one formulation, one package, and one market at a time.
